Infant Oral Care
Before your baby has any teeth, our dentists recommend gently cleaning their gums after every feeding using a washcloth and some warm water. This will help prevent them from developing any oral infections. Once their teeth start to show up, feel free to start using a soft-bristled brush and just a little water…save the toothpaste for later. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should see a dentist by the time they are one year old. This may seem quite young, but even at this stage of their dental development, we’ll be able to spot concerns early and can treat them as necessary.

A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that is used to snip a short or thick frenulum in a child’s mouth, which is a small piece of tissue that plays a big role in the ability of the lips and tongue to move. When a frenulum restricts normal movement, this can cause a variety of developmental issues and make it extremely hard for children to feed, especially infants. We can address this problem quickly and painlessly using a soft tissue laser that will leave both parents and child happy.
